Essentially, a circuit breaker works by opening the circuit when it detects an overload. When the current flowing through the circuit exceeds its rated capacity, the circuit breaker trips and opens the circuit. This prevents further damage to the electrical system and helps protect against fire due to overloads.

When a circuit breaker trips, it’s easy to reset it and restore power to the circuit. Typically, a circuit breaker will have a reset switch or button that can be pressed to reset the breaker. Alternatively, the breaker can be manually switched back on, allowing the current to flow through the circuit again. If the current continues to exceed the rated capacity, the circuit breaker will trip again and need to be reset.

Circuit breakers are important for protecting people and property from electrical hazards.
